What the Junior Winner Title Really Means
In the world of cat shows, there are important results… and then there are titles that represent a true journey of quality and consistency. Among these, one of the most prestigious for a young cat is undoubtedly the Junior Winner (JW) title.
This is an official recognition established by the FIFe and fully adopted by ANFI. It identifies cats that, already in their early show career, demonstrate consistent superiority over the competition.
When the title is awarded
The Junior Winner title is granted to cats competing in:
Class 12 (Kitten) → 4–8 months
Class 11 (Junior) → 8–12 months
To achieve this title, a cat must obtain:
5 Best in Show (BIS) wins within these classesThis means it is not about nominations or placements:
the cat must win the final comparison five times, competing against the best subjects in its category.
Why this title is so important
The value of the Junior Winner title lies in one key concept: consistency.
Winning a single Best in Show is already a significant achievement.
Winning five, within such a limited time frame and often in highly competitive international contexts, means demonstrating:
outstanding morphological quality
